Privacy policy

What this site stores, what it does not, and how advertising and analytics cookies are handled.

Last updated 6 August 2026

This page explains what happens to information when you use Periodic Table at periodicroom.com. The short version is that we do not ask you for anything and we do not want anything. There is no account, no login, no newsletter and no form that collects your details. The longer version, including what our advertising and measurement partners do, is below.

Information you give us

None, unless you email us. There is no sign up on this site, so there is no name, email address, password or payment detail for us to hold. If you write to support@periodicroom.com, we keep that message so we can reply to it, and we do not add you to any mailing list.

Information collected automatically

Like every website, our host records standard server information when a page is requested. That includes your IP address, the browser and device you are using, the page you asked for and the time you asked for it. These logs exist so the site can be kept online and protected from abuse.

Things stored on your device

A few small values are saved in your browser's local storage so the site behaves sensibly when you come back. They never leave your device and we cannot read them:

  • Whether you chose the light or dark theme.
  • Your streak and best scores from the practice games.

Clearing your browsing data removes all of it, and the site keeps working normally afterwards.

Advertising

Advertising is not currently running on this site. If that changes, this section will describe exactly which network is used and how to opt out of personalised ads, before any ad code is added.

Analytics

No analytics tool is running on this site at the moment. If one is added, this section will name it and say what it records.

What we never do

  • We do not sell or rent information about you.
  • We do not build advertising profiles ourselves.
  • We do not run trackers beyond the ones named on this page.
  • We do not require an account, so there is no user database to lose in a breach.

Children

This site is written with school students in mind and contains nothing that is unsuitable for them, but it is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, write to us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what information is held about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. Because we hold almost nothing, most requests can be answered in a sentence, but write to us and we will handle it. Residents of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom can exercise rights under the GDPR, and residents of California can exercise rights under the CCPA, including the right not to have personal information sold. We do not sell personal information.

Other sites

Some pages link out to sources such as Wikipedia and the data repository this site draws on. Those sites have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for what they do.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Substantial changes will be noted here rather than slipped in quietly.
